How to Join Kadanzer Weyr

Joining is simple! All you have to do is read these rules and then fill out the joining form. However, before you join, please take a moment and familiarize yourself with what kind of club we are, to decide whether we’re the right place for you.

Kadanzer Weyr was formed in 1994 as an offline fanzine club. It is a creative environment for mature Pern fans who want to write stories, create artwork, and engage in realistic character development. Unlike the majority of Pern clubs available online these days, we are not a PBeM club, and RP opportunities at Kadanzer Weyr are available only when members themselves organize them.

There are two types of membership at Kadanzer Weyr: Contributor-Members (CMs), who own and operate characters, and Reader-Members (RMs), who do not own characters but who have access to the website and the message boards, and who are encouraged to participate in the creative life of the Weyr and who are welcome to submit art and fic at their own speed. People who simply want to enjoy the creative content of the group are not required to register, but "adult" themed material will be restricted to CMs & RMs only.

We expect members to be self-motivated. While the Kadanzer environment is welcoming and encouraging of all new members, we've found over the past several years that club members get out of their Kadanzer experience what they put into it. You should expect to spend some time getting up to speed and learning the details of our setting; we have a lot of information available to help you and plenty of people willing to answer questions. Your experience in this club will largely depend on your level of motivation and your willingness to play well with others.

The core membership in this club consist of mature adults, which means we have a focus on creating realistic characters and storylines. All characters submitted to the club must go through a review process, which often consists of one or more draft revisions. Our Story Approval Team (SAT) ensures that stories do not contradict stated setting details, or other stories, or common sense; this may require an author to revise a story before it is published.
